Currently recruiting research areas
Bronchiectasis
A phase 2 study for adults aged 18–85 with CT-confirmed bronchiectasis. Participation lasts 52–86 weeks, with approximately 15 clinic visits.
Ask about Bronchiectasis researchBronchiectasis study — adults aged 18–85
A phase 2 study investigating the safety and effectiveness of an investigational treatment for bronchiectasis.
Who may be eligible?
- Aged 18–85.
- A diagnosis of bronchiectasis confirmed by a chest CT scan.
Initial criteria only; the research team determines eligibility.
Time in study: Between 52 and 86 weeks.
Visits: Approximately 15 clinic visits.
Eligible participants may receive travel compensation, free study-related care and study medication free of charge.
Planned enrolment: 363 participants across the whole study, not solely at BLISS.
- A 28-day screening period to check eligibility.
- Random assignment to one of three groups: either of two dose levels of the investigational treatment, or placebo. There is a 3 in 5 chance of receiving the investigational treatment. A placebo contains no active ingredient.
- A treatment period lasting up to 48 weeks. Participants receive 2, 3 or 4 doses depending on when they enrol.
- A 24-week follow-up period with clinical examinations and laboratory tests. For women of childbearing potential, follow-up lasts 34 weeks after treatment.
COPD
Two separate studies for moderate to severe COPD: one for adults aged 40–80, and another for adults aged 40–75 with raised eosinophils. See the different requirements below.
COPD study — adults aged 40–80
A study assessing whether an investigational add-on treatment can reduce moderate or severe COPD flare-ups and improve symptoms and quality of life, while evaluating safety.
Who may be eligible?
- Aged 40–80 with moderate to severe COPD.
- A current or former smoker.
- At least one flare-up in the past 12 months that meets the study's requirements.
Initial criteria only; the research team determines eligibility.
Time in study: The brochure describes participation of 61–113 weeks (about 1–2 years). Screening and run-in can take up to 56 days; the team will explain your full schedule.
Visits: Roughly 18–30 study visits, about one per month. Some may be by video or telephone if offered by the study team.
Qualified participants will be reimbursed for study-related travel expenses and provided with investigational treatment or placebo, rescue medication and study-related medical care.
Planned enrolment: About 960 participants across the whole study, not solely at BLISS.
- Screening and run-in include medical tests and assessments.
- Random assignment in a 2:1 ratio to an investigational treatment or placebo: about a 66% chance of the investigational treatment and a 33% chance of placebo.
- Injections are given under the skin at the study clinic. The treatment period lasts 52–104 weeks, with an exit visit at week 52, 78 or 104, 26 weeks after the last dose.
- A follow-up visit or call takes place 9 weeks after the exit visit.
- Participants continue their current COPD medication during run-in and treatment. Rescue medication is provided as permitted during the study.
Ask about COPD researchCOPD study — adults aged 40–75 with raised eosinophils
A separate study comparing an investigational add-on treatment with placebo for moderate to severe COPD.
Who may be eligible?
- Aged 40–75.
- A diagnosis of moderate to severe COPD.
- Elevated levels of eosinophils, a type of blood cell. The study team will assess whether your levels meet the criteria.
Initial criteria only; the research team determines eligibility.
Time in study: Up to 3 years, as described in the brochure. Treatment lasts 1–3 years depending on when you join.
Visits: Up to 41 clinic visits.
Qualified participants may receive travel compensation, no-cost study-related care and no-cost study medication.
Planned enrolment: Approximately 1,196 participants across the whole study, not solely at BLISS.
- A screening period of 14–28 days to check eligibility.
- A 50–50 chance of receiving the investigational treatment or placebo. Neither you, the study doctor nor the person giving the injection will know which you receive.
- Participants continue their normal inhaler therapy as prescribed throughout the study.
- After treatment, there is an exit visit and a follow-up visit.
Asthma
An investigational oral-pill study for adults aged 18–75 with asthma. Ask our team about eligibility and what participation involves.
Ask about Asthma researchAsthma oral-pill study — adults aged 18–75
A clinical research trial testing an investigational oral pill that may help reduce asthma symptoms.
Who may be eligible?
- Adults aged 18–75 with asthma.
- Contact the study team to discuss the full eligibility requirements.
Initial criteria only; the research team determines eligibility.
Time in study: Not specified in the approved poster. Please ask the study team.
Visits: Not specified in the approved poster. Please ask the study team.
Payment, travel reimbursement and study-related costs are not specified in the approved poster. Please ask the study team.
- The study is testing an investigational oral pill for asthma.
- The study team can explain screening, treatment allocation, study procedures, possible risks and the visit schedule before you decide.
Alzheimer's Disease
Patients, family members and caregivers are welcome to ask about Alzheimer's research. We can talk through screening, consent and what participation may involve together.
Ask about Alzheimer's Disease researchObesity
Ask about current obesity research in a respectful, supportive setting. Our team can explain the study and confirm eligibility requirements.
